My Top Issues

Education

I am committed to promoting transparent and accountable governance, especially regarding developments that affect our school districts. By advocating for greater oversight and ensuring large developments are as difficult as possible to get approved, we can restore confidence and slow the population growth. As your mayor, I will prioritize a thoughtful, long-term approach to growth that is driven by data and what is best for the people of Lavon.

Infrastructure / Transportation

Joshua Murray's position on roads and transportation is centered on prioritizing long-term, responsible infrastructure planning over incentivizing rapid, high-density residential development. His views connect transportation issues directly to city growth and the need for greater fiscal accountability.

Housing

Josh firmly opposes providing unnecessary incentives to real estate developers, believing that the growing demand for Lavon makes such incentives a waste.

Infrastructure / Transportation

Joshua Murray has consistently been critical of Municipal Utility Districts (MUDs), Public Improvement Districts (PIDs), and other residential development incentives. His position stems from his belief that these funding mechanisms prioritize developers over residents and create long-term financial burdens on the city and its citizens.

Criminal Justice / Public Safety

He is also against the establishment of residential developments through special districts, known as Public Improvement Districts (PID) and Municipal Utility Districts (MUD), and is committed to safeguarding resources for our first responders.

Criminal Justice / Public Safety

Joshua Murray is committed to public safety and supporting first responders, emphasizing the need for investment in personnel and infrastructure for our growing community.

Economy

Joshua Murray has taken a critical stance on how Economic Development Corporations (EDCs) operate, specifically their use of consultants who are paid to spend tax dollars. His position is rooted in his broader campaign themes of promoting government transparency and ensuring sustainable growth in the City of Lavon, something that the use of consultants can make more difficult.

Infrastructure / Transportation

Joshua Murray understands one of the most pressing needs for the city of Lavon, both now and in the coming decade, is the development and enhancement of infrastructure that is essential city services and creates a conducive work environment for our employees.
