Fun Fact
I enjoy working out and do weightlifting and cross fit classes at least 3-5 times a week. I like a good intense workout that you have to struggle to finish and I think having the mental fortitude to push through a hard workout, even when you don't want to, is something that could benefit all of our elected leaders.
Past Experience
I was raised with a sense of duty and joined the military out of High School, after the military I moved to Michigan and started my own IT business serving hundreds of clients all over Michigan. I dealt first hand with the difficulties faces by small businesses in our communities. My son graduated from John Glenn High School, the local public school and struggled through the Covid years there. I see a lack of community support for families and young people in the city and a city administration that is happy to keep the status quo so long as their budgets keep going up. I want to revitalize the city by investing in our infrastructure, lowering our property taxes, which are substantially higher than those around us, and partner with the half vacant mall in the center of our city to create a community center free for all residents to use. It will bring foot traffic back to the shop and dine district of the city and even be a draw for nearby residents of other cities.
My Top Issues
Attracting and retaining businesses
Currently our city is not looked upon as a desirable place for new development in the region because of its high property taxes and onerous regulatory environment. I would work to change this.
New sports facilities and programs
I want to partner with the half empty mall that the, city was named after and which is considered the heart of the city, to give them a property tax abatement in order to build and develop a new community center. Residents have been asking for a community center since the last one was demolished over 10 years ago and this would drive traffic to our "shop and dine" district.
Water-efficient infrastructure and technology
I want to build a water tower and storage to reduce costs for residents by filling up the water storage at night when there is less demand and the prices are subsequently lower to disperse during the day when the prices would be higher. Thereby reducing residents water costs and protecting the cities water supply from being cut off unexpectedly.
