Environment / Energy Idahoans share a love for our forests, rivers, mountains, open spaces, and public lands. I will work to protect access to our natural resources and make decisions focused on sustainable resource management. Education Public education is the great equalizer. Idaho students deserve to be prepared for their futures through a solid foundation in school. Too many students are dropping out before graduation and too many students are unprepared for post-graduate training and education that will make their lives better. Our crumbling public school buildings show students and teachers that we don’t care. The state has to invest in public school infrastructure and adamantly support public education. Taxes / Budget Our tax dollars should support programs that improve our lives, our communities and our state. State tax money should go to roads, infrastructure, resource management, supporting public education, supporting families and taking care of the most vulnerable in our society. Our representatives in Boise spend far too much money on pet projects and lawsuits protecting extremist legislation. We need a more fair tax system that eliminates the grocery tax, provides property tax relief and ensures that everyone pays a fair share. Economy Inflation and the housing crisis have led people to live paycheck-to-paycheck, just trying to make ends meet. No family or individual should have to choose between their next meal and paying rent, and I will work to uplift programs that provide working people with essential services. Our economy thrives when local businesses and agricultural production are supported. I will make decisions that offer good job opportunities and support local businesses to bolster our region’s economy. Healthcare As a registered nurse, I see the daily need for improved access to medical services and healthcare. Idahoans deserve to live safe and healthy lives, and we need to invest in programs that train and retain doctors, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals. In addition, I will work to reduce the cost of healthcare because a medical problem should not create a financial catastrophe for Idaho families. Healthcare Idahoans deserve to make personal decisions for their own families without government interference. Everyone should have affordable access to quality healthcare and the freedom to make their personal decisions, including decisions about reproductive health and birth control. Social Services Our vulnerable elders often need care that is too expensive, poorly managed, and understaffed. Idaho needs to support the elderly in making the best decisions for care, whether that be in-home care, family-supported care, or residential living.
