Immigration I will support increased funding for additional immigration judges, as well as efforts to combat the trafficking of fentanyl. Guns I will vote for expanded background checks, red flag laws, and other commonsense policies to keep guns off the streets and out of the hands of criminals. Immigration I will fight to increase the number of Border Patrol personnel, Asylum Officers, and ICE detention beds. Criminal Justice / Public Safety I will champion hate crimes legislation here in South Carolina, one of only two states without such a law on the books. Abortion / Contraception Women's rights are crucial for ensuring equality and justice, including reproductive freedom, which is vital for women to have control over their own bodies and life choices. Addressing historical inequalities and ensuring equal opportunities enrich communities, strengthen economies, and foster a more resilient world. It's not just fair; it's fundamental to societal progress. Education Investing in public schools in South Carolina is pivotal to equipping the next generation with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive, bolstering the state's workforce, and laying the foundation for a robust, future-oriented economy. Healthcare Healthcare is a cornerstone for a just and equitable society, ensuring that all individuals have access to essential medical services regardless of their economic status, and contributing to the overall health and productivity of the community. Immigration I will vote for the bipartisan Senate border security bill, negotiated by one of the most conservative Senate Republicans and endorsed by the National Border Patrol Council. Economy Affordable living is vital to fostering inclusive communities where individuals and families from all backgrounds can thrive, minimize financial stress, and have more opportunities to contribute to economic and social prosperity. Our residents deserve good paying jobs and access to affordable child care to achieve the American Dream.
