Taxes / Budget The best government is one that’s cost-effective and efficient in serving the people. It’s time to rein in government spending and audit every department to eliminate duplicative or wasteful programs. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Reducing crime requires improving lives and creating economic opportunities in low-income communities. It also requires support for law enforcement and the application of all laws equally. Environment / Energy We must protect California’s natural resources for future generations while remembering that environmental protection and economic growth are not mutually exclusive. Healthcare A healthier population, particularly in disadvantaged communities, benefits all Californians. We need to provide more healthcare options and to reorient the system towards preventative medicine, which is far cheaper. Immigration We need to create a path for immigrants who want to chase the American Dream, and deter those who would cheat the system. Abortion / Contraception Moderate pro-choice Republican.
