Fun Fact

I always find the time to listen to the elders because they have wisdom and experience that help me be a better person. I'm also a substitute teacher doing my best to pour knowledge to our young people. This campaign is about reaching people where they are and not be afraid to go into the trenches. As a writer, I capture my weaknesses, my strengths, and my passion. It helps to gain a perspective of the world around me and how I can effectively serve. The people have the power to be who they desire. The strength of a community is unity of the common good. Some might know. Some might not know. There's greatness in all of us. You will never find yourself until you face the truth.

Past Experience

I served as a Birmingham neighborhood association officer from 2019 to 2023 with a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for community and served that position with convicted integrity, accountability, and transparency. I have served in capacities large and small for various nonprofit organizations including Alabama Arise, Birmingham United Neighborhoods, Faith in Action Alabama, Gulf South to Appalachia, and Citizens Climate Lobby. These nonpartisan entities fight for justice, equity, and equality on issues you care about. From City Hall to the U.S. Capitol, I stood up to our elected officials against corruption, wasteful spending, and bad legislation that hurt our communities and its citizens. I'll be ready to represent the people of District 6 before Day 1. After 30 years of questionable decisions and leadership, it's time to elect a different person for different results. I have received a vision of Birmingham being in a valley of dry bones because many individuals have lost hope in their government feeling many of the pressing issues are not being addressed. The people felt ignored, hopeless, and powerless to demand for their communities what they pay in taxes. I have good news: those dry bones will live again. There is a plan to revive Birmingham without politics implications. I believe in investing in people, placing people over politics, and a platform that involves accountability, community engagement, and transparency. It's time to stop talking. It's time to ACT.

My Top Issues

Private/public community revitalization efforts

There is a plan to investigate income and spending in Birmingham so we can design and implement a plan. That plan involves advocacy and service. I want to make sure tax dollars are getting into the communities that need it most. Not necessarily into privilege areas where only a few people will benefit from it.

Invest in crime prevention

There needs to be a balance between being reactionary and being responsive. Scientific methods (Cure Violence Model) cost less to implement the cause for intervention and disruption of crime. Through community policing, intelligence policing, and problem-solving policing, we are able examine the root of crime and appropriate resources and manpower to target areas. Critical and social provide security and opportunities for people to be active, sustainable, and productive. By having these resources and support in place, it serves as a positive distraction to keep the community engaged and staying out of trouble.

Invest in infrastructure, create jobs

We need to invest in people by bringing in businesses, shops, and sports and entertainment venues that will create jobs, stimulate the local economy through patronizing establishments. We need to empower our young people to become productive citizens by providing opportunities to succeed. We need to lift up our elderly neighbors with limited resources to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
