Infrastructure / Transportation I will recommend a moratorium on zoning conversions to protect critical lands in our county. Our future land use and comprehensive plan MUST be consistent. Environment / Energy As a commissioner in Flagler Beach for 9 years I am familiar with the critically eroded beach and the difficulty in implementing a plan. As a federally funded project Flagler Beach will benefit from the USACOE and FEMAs cooperative efforts in maintaining the project; however, there is an additional 12 miles of coastline that needs to be addressed. Environment / Energy I will work to have a strong planned beach management plan that addresses every segment of coastline. This is a costly proposition. The future of Flagler County is dependent on the FCBOCC getting it right. Infrastructure / Transportation I support smart, controlled growth. Flagler County must protect residents from excessive development. We must ensure that we can accommodate new housing and it must be compatible with the look and feel of our community. Environment / Energy . From farmlands to the Hammock, I will support the residents and protect our quality of life. I also strongly support the work the county is doing to create a wildlife corridor, by acquiring lands for conservatio. Environment / Energy Water, especial storm water, is difficult to handle. Flagler County is 100 years old and many areas still remain that need a storm water program. Recently, the County developed a storm water plan that is crucial to current and future land uses. I will work to implement this plan. The Flagler County stormwater plan must be prioritized. Taxes / Budget I will fight to keep taxes low and cut wasteful spending. Our tax dollars need to be allocated for projects that protect our homes and our quality of life. I believe in zero based budgeting. Taxes / Budget I will request quarterly updates on the budget with a Finance Director's report on the health of the budget. The County Strategic Plan should be funded only when the right priorities are in place.
