Education I will only vote to approve a LACOE Board president who is pro-public education and not beholden to the charter school industry. Environment / Energy We must reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and a complete transition to renewable energy by 2030. Abortion / Contraception As supervisor, I would push for a countywide mandate that all reproductive care facilities hang signage at every entrance clearly stating the name of the attending physician, if any, and whether abortion and contraceptive services are provided on site. This will ensure any individual considering services can gather basic information to help them make an informed decision. This transparency is essential to prevent misinformation and deceptive practices. Infrastructure / Transportation By reimagining our storm drain infrastructure in this way, we can address two critical issues simultaneously. First, we combat water scarcity by harnessing and storing rainwater that would otherwise go to waste. Second, this approach aids in mitigating the impact of stormwater runoff, which often leads to pollution and flooding. Infrastructure / Transportation Our county must utilize our Measure W funds by prioritizing the conversion of our existing storm drain infrastructure into stormwater capture systems. This initiative would be transformative by enabling us to reclaim billions of gallons of water each year. Infrastructure / Transportation Investing in public transit, sustainable agriculture, and infrastructure Immigration By expanding the Office of Immigrant Affairs to include legal services, we can ensure immigrants have access to knowledgeable professionals to guide them through the often complex immigration process. Providing financial aid would offer them essential support during this transition and help recognize the financial challenges many immigrants face on their journey to citizenship. Housing By offering tax incentives, we encourage developers and investors to invest in affordable housing projects specifically designed to accommodate larger families. This not only expands the availability of such units but also makes them more financially viable. In turn, it contributes to greater diversity and inclusivity within our communities. Housing As supervisor, I plan to introduce tax incentives for the development of more 3- and 4-bedroom affordable housing units within our county as a practical and compassionate solution to address the pressing needs of our low-income families. This initiative recognizes the significance of stable, family-friendly housing as a fundamental component of a thriving community. Housing We must recognize that housing is a basic human right. By offering this foundation, we can create a stronger, more compassionate community. This approach not only shows we care about the well-being of all our residents, it also produces better outcomes by addressing the complex root causes of homelessness and preventing mass incarceration of our unhoused neighbors with mental health and addiction issues within an overcrowded jail population. Housing I firmly believe it’s high time we shift our approach to homelessness. Instead of relying primarily on enforcement, we should adopt a Housing First model to provide stable housing for our houseless neighbors. But it’s not just about shelter; we must offer wraparound services to address the root causes of homelessness and help individuals get back on their feet. Housing I will also allocate county dollars to lead the charge on getting our unhoused residents into shelter and take advantage of the county’s control of property taxes to create incentives for the development of multigenerational family housing for our larger immigrant families. I will push for massive investment in social housing construction, especially on government property. Housing I plan to take ownership of the homeless crisis and build on the successes we’ve had in Burbank with the newly earmarked sites for emergency shelter housing. My homelessness plan includes taking much of the financial burden off the shoulders of local jurisdictions and funding outreach, mental health, and drug rehabilitation services through the county’s Department of Public Health. Housing The primary cause of homelessness in LA County is an economic one. Increased housing cost and low wages have created an affordable housing crisis due to a lack of housing supply and a minimum wage that has not kept up with inflation. Abortion / Contraception Although Californians have legal access to abortion, I am deeply concerned about LA County’s recent proliferation of deceptive women’s ''clinics'' that actively undermine an individual person’s right to choose their own family planning care. We must take action to protect the well-being and informed choices of the individuals seeking healthcare services. Healthcare I believe healthcare is a basic human right, and no one should be denied access to crucial services on the basis of financial constraints. LA County should promote equity and foster a more inclusive community. By partnering with local nonprofits, we can reach those who need these services the most, ensuring they receive the care necessary to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. Healthcare I am dedicated to ensuring that every resident, regardless of their income, has access to essential healthcare services. As supervisor, I will propose a strategic investment of county funds into local nonprofit organizations in order to help provide free access to vision, dental, and hearing care for our low-income residents. Healthcare For healthcare and hospitality workers, who often shoulder immense responsibilities and work under demanding conditions, a $25 minimum wage recognizes their vital contributions to our community’s well-being. It demonstrates a profound appreciation for the tireless efforts of these essential workers, who have been on the front lines, especially during recent challenging times. Healthcare My proposal includes increasing the minimum wage to $18 per hour for all employees in unincorporated LA County and $25 per hour for those working in the healthcare and hospitality sectors. Healthcare We must also increase wages across the county, especially in the tourism and healthcare sectors. Environment / Energy We must engage climate champions civically to create an inclusive grassroots movement to oppose polluters and lead global efforts in combating climate change. Environment / Energy Everyone in our county has the right to a safer and more trustworthy healthcare environment, particularly those vulnerable to deceptive practices. We must uphold the principles of transparency, accuracy, and informed choice when it comes to healthcare. We must safeguard the rights and well-being of our residents and make sure they can get the healthcare services they need with full awareness and confidence. Environment / Energy My vision for LA County prioritizes fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment for all our youth, including LGBTQ+ individuals. Every child, irrespective of their sexual orientation or gender identity, must have the opportunity to thrive and grow in a safe and supportive space. Environment / Energy I intend to advocate for decisive steps to eliminate corruption and decertify deputies with conduct violations, to help create an environment of transparency and accountability within the department. Our sheriff’s department should uphold the highest ethical standards and prioritize the safety and well-being of our residents. Environment / Energy Addressing the climate crisis is a necessity, both environmentally and socioeconomically. Local impacts are global, and immediate, decisive actions can avert catastrophic future expenses that may total in the trillions. By uniting the efforts of multiple stakeholders, we can smooth the path to a cleaner, sustainable future. Environment / Energy We must uphold accountability and justice by challenging the fossil fuel industry for their role in the climate crisis and ensuring they pay their majority share of pollution and environmental damage costs. Environment / Energy We must make our systems equitable to prioritize frontline and vulnerable communities, provide clean air and water, access to nature, nutritious food, and a sustainable environment–and offer substantial support, especially financial, to working-class families. Education Childcare for all helps level the playing field for all residents in LA County, regardless of their socioeconomic status. It creates a brighter future by investing in the education and well-being of our youngest community members. Education As a county, we should find ways to alleviate the financial burden many families face when seeking childcare – while also giving children the opportunity to get a strong educational foundation from an early age. This approach not only empowers families to pursue their careers and education but also contributes to a more equitable and thriving community. Education Early childhood education plays a critical role in a child’s development. By making childcare free and incorporating educational programming, we invest in the future of our community, foster early learning, and support working parents. Education Every resident in our county should have access to quality childcare. As supervisor, I will push to make childcare completely free for all families. I will also advocate to introduce educational programming for children under the age of 5. Education Lastly, LA County must step in to cover the costs of arts, sports, and other extracurricular activities for smaller school districts in the region, in order to meet our childrens’ educational needs. Education I will also work to ensure that any charter schools previously approved by LACOE are properly regulated. In addition, any charters that fail to meet recertification must have a clear pathway to return back to their local school districts to prevent disruption of students’ education. Education Investments in essential services for LA County will improve access to healthcare, education, and social support, creating a more equitable and just society. And, by appointing community members directly impacted by these injustices to leadership positions within county government, we can help ensure that those most affected are heard and actively involved in decision-making processes. Education As supervisor, I will collaborate closely with local school districts and nonprofit organizations to help create policies, educational programs, and community initiatives that promote equality, respect, and understanding. My goal is to ensure all LGBTQ youth feel accepted and protected, in school and in their communities. Education As supervisor, my focus will include addressing issues of animal overpopulation and shelter management. I will advocate for providing funding for spaying and neutering, addressing shelter needs, and placing a temporary moratorium on breeding licenses. To care for our diverse wildlife, the county should establish an Animal Care Board for oversight, set clear oversight metrics with benchmarks, ensure financial transparency, and promote community education. As supervisor, I would prioritize these efforts in order to prevent animal overpopulation and modernize the department. Not only would we reduce costs and liabilities, we would better care for our animal community. Education We must enact an Economic Bill of Rights to guarantee everyone’s rights to healthcare, fair wage employment, affordable housing, and free higher education. Economy First, I will advocate for a substantial sales tax rebate for all small businesses. This rebate is a direct acknowledgment of the vital role small businesses play in our local economy. The rebate will alleviate the financial burden they face and enable them to reinvest in their operations and create more job opportunities, ultimately contributing to the economic vitality of our community. Economy We must initiate a Green New Deal-inspired mobilization to battle climate change while rejuvenating the economy. As part of this, we must create millions of jobs, with a focus on a just transition that includes preferential hiring, training, and competitive salaries for displaced fossil fuel workers. Infrastructure / Transportation We should be building cutting-edge water and power infrastructure as well as connecting our neighborhoods with regional transit. Economy Our biggest challenges are the housing crisis and homelessness, our vanishing small businesses, unfair wages, traffic and transportation failures, and outdated environmental policies. We need to focus on building affordable housing and invest in small businesses which are the heart and soul of our economy.
