By applying the law consistently and transparently, the court reinforces the expectation that everyone is responsible for their conduct while also ensuring each case is evaluated on its individual merits. It balances accountability with compassion and allows room for real change that enhances public safety. It is not right for every case, but when it fits, it can make a lasting difference.
