Education Today, our parents need to be trusted and empowered with the facts of what is happening in our children's schools and then make decisions that are best for their children's future; including home schooling and expanded school choice. Transparency in schools will help build confidence in our communities. Housing Protect and make permanent the 1031 provision. Housing Index the capital gains exclusion on primary residence. Housing With rising costs, affording our daily obligations is stacking up against us. So many are having trouble, and it does not feel like it is getting any better; that needs to stop. We must improve pathways for all our neighbors to recognize the American Dream. Immigration Each day thousands of people are crossing our borders illegally and many of them are being absorbed into our communities. We deserve to know who lives here. We have a right to know that our kids are safe in our neighborhoods. We must secure our border and enforce the laws that are on the books. Civil Rights North Carolinians deserve to have trust in elections, that their ballot is protected, and to know their vote counts. I will work and advocate tirelessly for us all to have confidence in our elections, including the continued use of paper ballots. Civil Rights Those who run our nation demonize us at every turn for simply upholding Christian, family-first perspectives. I will fight, unapologetically, to protect our values in Congress. Civil Rights The Lumbee Tribe needs members of Congress who will speak vocally and passionately about the Lumbee Fairness Act and work to get it passed. I’ll be one of those voices.
