Criminal Justice / Public Safety Everyone wants to feel safe where they live. Public safety is a basic need. That’s why my definition of public safety applies to every person, whether they live in the wealthiest neighborhood or not. Immigration I will make sure the ordinance establishing non-cooperation with federal immigration (ICE) will stay in place to protect our immigrant communities. I will do what it takes to build trust and transparency in collaboration with the community and our Sheriff. Housing In order to reach functional zero homelessness, I will support investing in interim housing, affordable permanent housing where people can set down roots, and stronger tenant protections to prevent displacement. I will work on clear pathways to housing for our most vulnerable communities, including our elders, people with disabilities, single moms, and those with mental illness. I’ll work to keep teachers and essential workers living in the communities they serve. Environment / Energy I will focus efforts on infrastructure and supporting low-income neighborhoods that are disproportionately impacted by climate change. Environment / Energy I will work closely with the Office of Sustainability to deliver on the Community Climate Action Plan and take priority actions to achieve a 45% reduction of greenhouse gas emissions over 1990 levels by 2030 and carbon neutrality within unincorporated San Mateo County by 2040.
