My Top Issues
Invest in local public education
We have underfunded our city schools for many years. That's fact. That is what is now in front of us- and our children as our schools can no longer provide services or programs per children need to be the next generation of well informed citizens.
Increasing affordable housing options
Affordable housing should be a priority, not an add on. Rent stabilization and taking care of those who live here now but can't afford to stay is critical.
Community involvement in decision-making
Participatory budgeting, real community involvement in decision making where our city goes to you rather than dismissing your voice by saying you could have come to them.
Housing
We prioritize real affordable housing over subsidies to developers who add high end or 'market rate' housing stock.
Environment / Energy
We actively preserve mature tree canopy and holding roots and green space. We plan for a rapidly approaching future that requires all of these things.
Taxes / Budget
We conduct a holistic annual consideration of capital improvements, yearly maintenance, and operating budgets. It means a fundamental assurance that we prioritize repair of sidewalks and potholes. When snow falls, we clear it. We ensure that our streets are safe and accessible for all. We balance priorities with wish list.
Economy
We revisit Picture Main Street by engaging in honest conversation and charting a new process to improve design plans that will better respond to the needs of the community, increase safety, improve accessibility and help our businesses thrive.
Civil Rights
LGBTQ children and families and new arrivals from far corners of the world must feel safe and valued.
Housing
We work with existing community and faith-based agencies to provide dignified shelter and services to our houseless now. We do so effectively, thoughtfully, compassionately and consistently.
Taxes / Budget
We thoughtfully and creatively explore ways to increase city tax revenue without pricing out the people who live here or destroying our city’s beauty. We use our accumulated existing city millions wisely, but we recognize a rainy day when we see it.
Who I'm Running Against
Benjamin Spencer (Other)
Spencer is adamant about what he believes is right and exhibits a consistent inability to be open to veering from that. He is a staunch defender of the current status quo.
Garrick Perry (Other)
Perry has been a ward councilor and at large councilor and has a long track record of ignoring or not responding to constituent requests. He spent much of his last two terms attending city council from his evening job. He is also a yes vote for mayoral wishes.
Yakov Kronrod (Other)
A very new arrival to city politics, Mr. Kronrod is keen to advance his proposals that we pay for our schools by fundraising rather than recurring funds and introduce 'ethical' artificial intelligence to our schools and city government.
William Dwyer (Other)
Mr. Dwyer has a good future as a city representative but should probably focus on finishing college first.
