Top Issues

Infrastructure / Transportation A strong city begins with strong foundations. Mark will prioritize investment in roads, utilities, drainage, and city facilities to ensure Jacksonville is equipped to support growth, attract investment, and serve the daily needs of its citizens. He believes infrastructure improvements are not just about convenience – they’re essential for economic opportunity and quality of life. Education Mark knows that strong public schools are essential to a thriving community. During his time on the City Council, he worked closely with the school board to support the construction of a new elementary school and ensure city leaders were aligned with the needs of educators and families. As mayor, Mark will continue to champion K–12 education and make sure Jacksonville remains a place where families want to live, learn, and grow. Healthcare Jacksonville residents deserve more than long drives and limited options—they deserve access to reliable, high-quality healthcare close to home. Mark understands that restoring emergency services and expanding healthcare access is not just a policy goal, but a community necessity. As mayor, he will work with local, regional, and state partners to pursue real, workable solutions that meet the city’s healthcare needs. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Safety is the cornerstone of a healthy, thriving community. Mark is committed to ensuring Jacksonville’s police and fire services have the resources they need to protect and serve effectively. He will continue efforts to improve response times, strengthen relationships with department leadership, support public safety personnel, and keep our neighborhoods safe. Economy A thriving local economy starts with supporting the businesses that are already here. Mark will support our small businesses, cut red tape where possible, and help create an environment where new businesses want to invest and grow. His focus is on smart, sustainable development that strengthens Jacksonville’s economy while protecting the character of the city.
