Fun Fact
I like to get my hands dirty. I am a pottery instructor and I serve the Michigan ceramics community as a board member of the Michigan Ceramic Art Association. I love gardening and I recently completed the Extension Master Gardener training. I dig in my yard, at a community garden and I volunteer at the Ouldolf garden on Belle Isle.
Past Experience
I have served on the Birmingham Parks and Recreation board since 2019. During my tenure, the board championed a successful bond campaign. The bond funded renovations to the Ice Arena and Adams Park. The Parks and Recreation master plan adopted in 2024 has a focus on access and sustainability and work is ongoing to develop Poppleton Park as a barrier free playground. Because I also serve on the Public Arts Board and the Ad Hoc Senior Recreation Board, I have experience with serving on boards. I am a 29 year resident of this city.
My Top Issues
Enhancing services for senior citizens
I serve on the Ad Hoc Senior Recreation Center board. NEXT provides great services to seniors in our community and the city should provide them with a facility. The library also serves our seniors and I am in favor collaborative programming between NEXT and Baldwin Library.
Ensuring accessibility in public buildings and infrastructure
The recent library remodel improved access and added meeting spaces. I support library outreach to provide inclusive programming for groups that might have been uncomfortable in the library pre renovation.
Digital literacy and access to technology
I love the library Idea Lab and I use it regularly.
