My Top Issues
Taxes / Budget
If a program isn’t delivering, it’s time to rethink it. I’ll review city spending to make sure we’re funding results, not just habits. That means ending agreements that no longer make sense, and trimming what’s not working so we can reinvest in what is.
Environment / Energy
I’ll advocate for greater investment in replacements, getting clean drinking water to more Ferndale families sooner. While corrosion control means the risk to health is currently low, this is still a long-term investment we must take seriously.
Government Reform
I’ll work with the City Manager to better communicate with residents. In particular, an e-newsletter would allow more timely and cost-effective distribution of information while keeping a print version for households that want it.
Government Reform
I’ll push for stronger communication about expectations, quicker follow-up on complaints, and more proactive strategies to prevent small problems from becoming big ones. That includes addressing blighted or vacant properties that drag down entire blocks and pose long-term safety risks.
Government Reform
Residents struggle to get a response from City Hall when they reach out with questions or concerns, and I’ve experienced it myself. I’ll work with the City Manager to understand why this happens and improve response times. I will personally do my part by being accessible, responsive, and connecting residents with the right staff when you need help.
Government Reform
I will work to better engage these groups, ensure they are alerted to meaningful opportunities to provide their feedback, and rely on their expertise to improve city outcomes. Tapping into resident knowledge will serve the community more effectively.
Taxes / Budget
I’ll work with the City Manager’s office to publish a budget that residents can read and understand. This level of transparency has been long overdue in Ferndale.
Environment / Energy
I’ll also keep pushing for more trees, rain gardens, and other climate-resilient strategies that reduce flooding and protect our neighborhoods.
Criminal Justice / Public Safety
We need to invest in safe, modern workspaces if we want to retain the dedicated professionals who keep Ferndale safe. We cannot keep kicking the can down the road while we’re losing the best of our first responders to cities that offer better working conditions.
Environment / Energy
From extreme weather to aging infrastructure, we need to be ready. I’ll work with resident commissions to identify and plan for the emergencies and the long-term challenges Ferndale faces so we’re not caught off guard.
Government Reform
Each year, the list of repair needs is growing and we’re getting further and further behind. I will prioritize funding repairs and preventative maintenance to help us get ahead.
