Fun Fact

Even though our four kids are all grown now and out in the world, I still find joy in a full house—whether it's hosting our weekly family game night, making dinner with our friends, lending a hand on a neighbor’s project, or getting lost in a good book or local art exhibit. I believe community is just an extension of family, and I’m passionate about building both with care and creativity.

Past Experience

I’m running for Tonganoxie City Council because I believe in the power of thoughtful leadership, community collaboration, and long-term planning to both preserve the strong values in this community and shape a stronger future for Tonganoxie. My commitment to public service began in Southeast Kansas, where I served as a school board member—an experience that taught me the importance of listening to diverse perspectives, making informed decisions, and always putting community needs first. Since returning to Tonganoxie in 2009, I’ve continued that commitment through my professional role as a Director in KU Information Technology, where I lead the Project and Change Management Office. In this role, I help large teams navigate complex challenges, implement strategic initiatives, consider and account for all the details that others may miss, and deliver results that matter—all skills that directly translate to effective city governance. I’m running because I care deeply about this community, and I want to help ensure that Tonganoxie continues to grow in a way that is best for its citizens; thoughtfully considering Tonganoxie's future while remaining grounded in shared values. I bring experience, transparency, and a collaborative spirit—and I’d be honored to earn your support.

My Top Issues

Path to home ownership

It's much more difficult today for this generation to buy their first home. I think it's important to find ways for them to do so that fits their budget and improves our town.

Invest in local public education

We have a great school system here in Tonganoxie, and I want to help make that even stronger by making decisions that positively impact USD 464.

Balance development with neighborhood preservation

The town is growing and the citizens seem equally divided in whether or not that's a good thing. We want to keep the small town vibe while respecting and planning for growth that makes a positive impact on the town.

Who I'm Running Against

Loralee Stevens (Democrat Party)

Loralee grew up in this town, as I did, and her father was the local and only primary care physician in our small town. Everyone knows Loralee! She currently serves as a Tonganoxie City Council member.

Matt Partridge (Other)

I don't know much about Matt. He is an accountant in Overland Park, KS but lives in Tonganoxie. I don't think he grew up here. He currently serves as a Tonganoxie City Council member.

Matthew Wilke (Republican Party)

Matthew Wilke is a reverand here in Tonganoxie at the Methodist Church. I don't know what his political party affiliation is, but I assume it's Republican. He's not from Tonganoxie, and just moved here in 2020.
