I’ll ensure it serves our community by hosting regional tournaments and events that attract visitors and generate revenue, instead of letting these facilities lie idle. Infrastructure / Transportation Additionally, I’ll work hand-in-hand with the Sterling Opera House committee to restore our 1889 historic opera house to its former glory as a cultural hub downtown. Economy And because the Derby Greenway is already one of Connecticut’s most popular trails, seeing over 217,000 uses in 2021; we will integrate it more closely with our downtown and events, boosting foot traffic for local businesses. Government Reform This government is adrift, and Derby residents deserve better. Scott Derby will fill essential staff positions, restore accountability, and ensure elected officials are showing up and doing the job taxpayers expect. It’s time to bring professionalism, ethics, and action back to City Hall. Taxes / Budget He is committed to stabilizing Derby’s finances without further burdening taxpayers, ensuring that every tax dollar is used wisely and that no family is hit with surprise tax hikes due to government inaction or waste. Arts / Culture I will restore our small-town charm and community pride by reviving beloved traditions like the annual Derby Day celebration with downtown vendors, live music, and the famous rubber duck race.
