Fun Fact
I'm an avid reader. As of this writing, I'm at over 140 books for the year so far. My wife and I also own Ada's only dance studio. It's been amazing to be able to bring dance and more arts to our community.
Past Experience
I am in my fourth and final year of my first term in office. Over the past 3.5 years, I've had the honor and immense privilege to serve the community that I live in. I think local politics are the most important; they're the ones that fix our roads and sidewalks; they're the ones that provide water; they're the ones that clear off the snow. We do important work, and it's important that we continue to do that work while also balancing the fact that we have finite resources. Since I first started on council, we've done some impressive work. To name a few- we've hired a new chief of police and a new village administrator; we successfully prepared for the total solar eclipse in 2024; repaired or replaced numerous roads; and so much more. We've also updated our equipment as needed, and have further plans to improve facilities like the water and waste water treatment plants.
My Top Issues
Enhancing transparency and accountability
Beyond the standard "keeping the village going on the right path" ideas, my main goal is to increase communications with our residents and with our fellow governmental entities. We've had issues in the past and recently that gives me reason to start really thinking on how we can improve.
Supporting entrepreneurship and small businesses
As a small business owner myself, this is a crucial part of any small town's plans. What can we do to better serve our small businesses? More importantly, how can that support to the small businesses increase quality of life to our residents and employees at the businesses?
Increasing affordable housing options
We're a small town, and don't have a ton of options for true affordable housing. I want the Village to continue working with current and future landlords to ensure we have plenty of affordable options for families and students.
Who I'm Running Against
Jason Campbell (Republican Party)
Decent guy, but very conservative. Is one of the local landlords; lots of properties. I haven't heard any complaints from tenants though, which is always nice.
Lucas Rowe (Republican Party)
I don't actually know about Lucas.
Xander Wells (Democrat Party)
I like Xander. He and I will work really well together over the next 4 four years.
