We must prioritize public safety by ensuring law enforcement is fully staffed, trained, and able to enforce laws effectively. Supporting emergency responders and filling open positions are critical steps. Additionally, investing in more surveillance cameras for the Real Time Crime Center and providing extra protection for at-risk neighborhoods are necessary measures to improve safety in Athens. Housing The approval of high-end apartment complexes, especially in East Athens, caters mainly to the college population, depleting green spaces and increasing traffic. Many native Athenians struggle to find affordable housing, exacerbated by rising property taxes. Citizens outside the original city limits are also denied access to basic public utilities. It's time to address these disparities and focus on equitable access to housing and public services for all Athenians. Social Services We need to prioritize programs for our youth, ensuring their well-being and future prospects.
