Criminal Justice / Public Safety Trachelle will implement a pre-charge diversion program to give offenders who would benefit from a second chance the opportunity to earn one. She plans to partner with community organizations to give those offenders, especially our youth, the opportunity to gain valuable life skills and the responsibility that comes from community service to invest in our community and have a better path forward than one marred by a criminal record with fines and costs that cripple many who are already financially struggling. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Under her leadership, the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office will strive to partner with law enforcement and other government agencies, schools, religious leaders, and community organizations to create, build and implement programs that will help those most at-risk of being caught up in the criminal justice system. Criminal Justice / Public Safety He knows we must invest in our youth and destroy the school to prison pipeline that has been allowed to continue uninterrupted for the past 20 years under the same leadership. She also has plans to create a “Junior Prosecutor” program that will bring middle and highschool students into the prosecutor’s office to observe “justice” firsthand as a means planting seeds of future generations of attorneys and prosecutors. The experience will also serve to show there are serious consequences to a person’s actions that not only impact the person but also their family members and community in multiple ways.
