Healthcare Making sure every hard working family has healthcare they can afford means: Expanding Medicaid eligibility in Florida through Obamacare to provide health care coverage to an additional 1.2 million Floridians; Increasing access to mental health services and treatment in all of our communities; Using innovations in health care technology, like telehealth, to increase access and help lower the cost of care; Reducing the cost of prescription drugs; and Eliminating the inequities in health care for racial and ethnic minorities. Education As our senator she will: Make sure Jacksonville teachers get a REAL pay raise once and for all; Fight against politically motivated proposals to decrease funding for the Duval County School District; Require that our tax dollars are invested in our local Duval County Public Schools; Lead the effort to decrease classroom sizes; and Put a stop to massive giveaways of our school dollars to private schools run by out of state companies. Economy Tracie believes we need an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top. In the Florida Senate, she will: Continue to support the unions that help keep our state strong; Fight for fair wages for every Floridian; Cut taxes for middle class and hard working families, and protect sales tax holidays, like the “Back to School” sales tax holiday; and Make sure our tax dollars are invested in our local small businesses. Legislation Oppose legislation creating additional barriers to securing a mail-in ballot. Housing Tracie Davis will continue to: Oppose any efforts to divert state affordable housing trust fund money away from affordable housing efforts; Stand up for the rights of renters against landlords that act in bad faith; Seek innovative solutions for addressing rising property insurance rates; and Support home rule, preserving local government’s ability to implement localized solutions to increase affordable housing supply and improve affordable housing quality. Abortion / Contraception As our senator, Tracie promises to continue to: Stand up for the rights of survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and increase access to support resources; Fight to close the gender pay gap in Florida; Advocate for a woman’s right to make her own decisions about her reproductive health; and Support increased availability of contraceptives and family planning services.
