Economy As stewards of our community, it is our duty to responsibly manage current costs without burdening future generations with excessive debt. We must prepare for the inevitable rise in the cost of goods and services, ensuring sustainability and stability for Monterey's future. Environment / Energy It is long overdue that we establish a comprehensive, long-term strategy for a sustainable and affordable water solution. As the representative for the City of Monterey on Monterey One Water (M1W), our region’s wastewater and recycled water treatment agency, I spearheaded efforts to advance the expansion of Pure Water Monterey (PWM). This initiative utilizes advanced water recycling technology to deliver a new source of clean, safe, and sustainable water for Monterey. The initial project has already added 3,500 acre-feet per year to our water supply, and the ongoing expansion is projected to contribute an additional 2,250 acre-feet per year. Completing the PWM expansion is crucial, requiring steadfast leadership that prioritizes the needs of our residents both now and in the future. Housing The housing affordability crisis has been a top priority for me throughout my tenure on the Council. Ensuring our children and grandchildren can afford to live where they grow up should be a top priority for everyone in our community. Despite challenges posed by scarce resources on the Monterey Peninsula, we cannot shirk our responsibility. Housing is a fundamental right of all people, and we must do our part.
