Social Services Children and Youth - We are in crisis on childcare! Mothers who want to transition back to the workplace and develop their careers are not able to do so. Glenn and Vivian struggled to afford childcare when they were raising three boys. And currently, they are providing childcare for their grandchildren 3 days a week. Vivian aims to put her focus on providing access to affordable childcare and impactful programs positioning our children and youth to success. Taxes / Budget We have a budget deficit of 11 million and is expected to continue to have a budget shortfall in the coming years! We are not in a good situation in continuing for our city and our people to flourish and advance our programs. As a former Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer who turned around financially a struggling firm to profitability, Vivian will be very dedicated to having a strategy to increase revenues, reduce expenses, and work with the State of California on policies that would move South City’s bottom line from red back to green. Criminal Justice / Public Safety Vivian will make public safety her everyday priority! Vivian strongly believes community engagement supports public safety. She extremely values the great partnership with our men in uniform. She will work very hard to make South San Francisco the safest place to both live and work. Social Services Programs for Seniors - Over 20% of our adult population are seniors! Vivian aims to prioritize having the best programs to support their care, health, and nutrition. As a daughter who took care of her parents when they were very ill, she believes it is very important that our seniors feel loved and don't feel isolated. She also wants to focus on empathy and support to caregivers. Vivian is committed to ensuring our older adults continue to be productive and happy citizens of South City.
