State Representatives are members of the state's lower chamber, as part of the state's bicameral legislature. State representatives are responsible for voting on: bills related to public policy matters, levels for state spending, raises or decreases in taxes, and whether to uphold or override gubernatorial vetoes.
Must be a qualified elector, a U.S. citizen, an Arkansas resident for 2 years, a resident of the district to be represented for 1 year preceding the general election, at least 21 years of age, lawfully registered to vote, must not hold any other office, must never have been convicted of embezzelment of public money, bribery, forgery, or other infamous crime
Filing Requirements
Filing fee is $1,500 (Democrat or Republican) or $0 (independent); signature requirement of 3% of qualified voters residing in the district (independent candidates only).
