The Mayor is the chief executive officer of the municipality. They often preside over council meetings and may have the power to hire and fire heads of municipal departments.
A qualified elector of the City. Candidates must be residents of the City of Flagstaff for at least one year preceding the election. Candidates cannot hold any other public office except that of Notary Public or member of the National Guard or Naval or military reserves. If a Councilmember or Mayor ceases to possess any of these qualifications, or is convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude, the office shall immediately become vacant.
Filing Requirements
No filing fee; signature requirement of at least 5% and not more than 10% of the voters in the city.
