The council in Arizona cities and towns is the local policy making and law-making body possessing broad authority and the legal power to govern the affairs of the community. The job of the council essentially is to use these powers granted by state law and local ordinances for the good of the community and its residents.
A candidate must be a qualified elector.  United States Citizenship Age of 18 years or more on or before the regular general election nextfollowing his registration. State residency for a period of one year prior to election. Residency in Town for one year prior to election. Ability to write one's own name or make a mark unless prevented byphysical disability. Must be registered to vote at least twenty-nine days prior to election.
Filing Requirements
No filing fee; signature requirement of at least 5% and not more than 10% of the voters in the city.
