The City Legislature is the municipality's governing body, responsible for voting on ordinances and policies, and often is in charge of hiring a city manager.

Eligibility Requirements

A candidate for Mayor or Council Member must have been a qualified elector and resident of the City of Tucson for not less than years immediately prior to becoming a candidate. Additionally, Council candidates must have resided in the ward for which nomination is sought at least one year immediately prior to becoming a candidate, unless such residence has been shortened by the redistricting of the city as to wards.

Filing Requirements

No filing fee; signature requirement of at least 5% and not more than 10% of the voters in the city.
