The council in Arizona cities and towns is the local policy making and law-making body possessing broad authority and the legal power to govern the affairs of the community. The job of the council essentially is to use these powers granted by state law and local ordinances for the good of the community and its residents.
A candidate must be a current City of Maricopa resident in good standing, propertyowner or business owner for a minimum of one year. Members must be atleast 18 years of age and registered to vote in Pinal County. Members mustcomplete the City of Maricopa Citizens Academy within two years ofappointment. Members shall not be a current member of any standing boardcommittee or commission, City of Maricopa Council, or staff.
Filing Requirements
No filing fee; signature requirement of at least 5% and not more than 10% of the voters in the city.
