City Legislature in Colma, San Mateo County, California

Each candidate for a City Council seat shall have been a resident of the Town of Colma for 30 days prior to his or her filing a declaration of candidacy. Each member of the City Council shall be an elector of the City at the time of assuming office.

Filing fee shall not exceeding twenty-five dollars ($25). Petition signature requirement is 20-40 (or 10-20 if filing in a county or district with fewer than 150 voters; if filing via petition in lieu of fee in a county or district with 2000 voters or more: three signatures of registered voters for each dollar of the filing fee, or 7 percent of the total of registered voters in the district in which he or she seeks nomination; if filing via petition in lieu of fee in a county or district with fewer than 2000 voters: three signatures of registered voters for each dollar of the filing fee, or 14 percent of the total of registered voters in the district in which he or she seeks nomination, whichever is less)

Submit paperwork to the county registrar of voters' office.
