The City Legislature is the municipality's governing body, responsible for voting on ordinances and policies, and often is in charge of hiring a city manager.

Eligibility Requirements
Candidate must be twenty-one (21) years of age at least. Three of the Commissioners shall be designated resident Commissioners. A resident Commissioner shall be a bona-fide resident and domiciliary of the City. The Commissioner with the title of Mayor of the City of Rehoboth shall also be a bona-fide resident and domiciliary of the City and shall have been domiciled in the City of Rehoboth Beach for a period of at least twelve (12) months immediately preceding the date of election. The other three Commissioners must either have the qualifications of a resident Commissioner as defined above (i.e. a bona-fide resident and domiciliary of the City) or be a freeholder of real estate located within the City.
Filing Requirements
No filing fee. Petition signature requirement: Not less than ten (10) nor more than twenty-five (25) qualified electors.
