The City Legislature is the municipality's governing body, responsible for voting on ordinances and policies, and often is in charge of hiring a city manager.
Only registered electors living in the respective district may run for commissioner
Filing Requirements
Candidates must fill a DS-DE 9 and S-DE 84 form and an election assessment fee of $120. In addition, candidates must either submit a further qualifying fee of $360 or they may file by petition and secure a number of signatures equal to 1% of the registered voters in the city. Candidates seeking to file by petition must however pay a 10cent verification fee for each signature.
