The Mayor is the chief executive officer of the municipality. They often preside over council meetings and may have the power to hire and fire heads of municipal departments.
Each candidate seeking the office of Mayor or City Commissioner shall be a qualified elector and shall have resided within the city limits for over one consecutive year immediately prior to the time for qualifying for office.
Filing Requirements
Filing Fee:$25 plus 1% of the annual salary of the office sought. Petition signature requirement: 1% of the registered electors of the city as shown by the compilation by the Supervisor of Elections for the last preceding general election.
