The Legislature Chair or President of Council is responsible for overseeing the sessions of the municipal legislature. The chair will monitor and evaluate pending legislative, regulatory and legal actions on an ongoing basis.
Qualified elector/registered voter. One year resident of the township. A person is not eligible to hold any office if that person, at the time required for taking the oath of office, has been convicted in any court located in the United States of any infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or other felony.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee = $0; petition signature requirement of Partisan Candidates: 0.5% of the qualified electors of his or her party who cast votes at the last preceding general election within the county (or any sub-county political district). Independent Candidates: Not less than 5%, nor more than 8% (or 50 more than the minimum, whichever is greater) of the number of persons, who voted at the next preceding regular election in such district or political subdivision
