Eligibility Requirements

No person shall be eligible for the nomination or election to the office of county attorney of any county unless such person shall have been regularly admitted to practice law within the state of Kansas, and is at the time of nomination and election a regularly qualified practicing attorney of this state.

Filing Requirements

Filing fee is 1% of salary if the position salary is over $1,000/year. If the position salary is less than $1,000/year, $5. Petition signature requirement for Major Party candidates: 3% of the total of the current voter registration of the party in the county. Minor Party candidates: 4% of the current total of qualified voters of the county.
