The City Police Chief or Marshal is the chief law enforcement officer of the city and is responsible for planning, directing, managing, and overseeing the activities and operations of the Police Department.
The candidate shall be an elector of the municipality who at the time of qualification shall have been domiciled and actually resided for at least the immediately preceding year in the municipality. In addition, those elected from wards must be residents of their respective wards at the time of qualifying.
Filing Requirements
$40 qualifying fee, plus an additional $20 State Central Committee fee for major party candidates, plus an additional $20 Parish Executive Committee fee for major party candidates if assessed by Parish Committee In lieu of filing fees, candidates can submit a petition with 50 signatures.
