Eligibility Requirements
The Councilmembers of the town must be not less than twenty–one (21) years of age on or before the date they are elected, citizens of the United States, registered to vote in the Town of Cheverly elections, and shall have been residents within the limits of the town for not less than six (6) months immediately preceding the date of their election. Council members must reside in the wards from which they are elected, such residency commencing either on the date of the submission of the petition for candidacy or forty–five (45) days immediately preceding the date of their election in the case of a write–in candidate.
