County Commissioners are responsible for the budget of the County and hire people to perform the duties of the County. Cumberland County has five County Commissioners. County Commissioners issue bonds, manage county parks and, in Cumberland County, the Cross Insurance Arena, and operate regional programs that provide social services, trash collection and disposal, water quality protection, and emergency management.
A candidate for any County Office must be at least 18 years of age and a resident and voter in the electoral district which the candidate seeks to represent as of the date that the candidate files nomination petitions in the year of the election.
Filing Requirements
Petion signature requirement: 50 signatures (Party candidates); 100 signatures (independant candidates). Filing fee: $100.00 fee in lieu of a petition.
