How to run for City Council
- Step 1
Meet eligibility requirements
Candidates must be eligible to vote in Minnesota, must have not filed for another office at the upcoming primary or general election, must be 21 years of age or more upon assuming office, and must have maintained residence in their district for at least 30 days before the general election. Information about other qualifications is available from the city clerk.

- Filing fee is $20; signature requirement of either 500 or 5% of the number of votes cast for the office at the previous general election, whichever is less.
