The Mayor is the chief executive officer of the municipality. They often preside over council meetings and may have the power to hire and fire heads of municipal departments.
The Mayor must be at least 30 years of age, a resident of the city for two years preceding the election, and a United States citizen. No person shall be elected or appointed to any office who shall at the time be in arrears for any unpaid city taxes or forfeiture or defalcation in office.
