The Mayor is the chief executive officer of the municipality. They often preside over council meetings and may have the power to hire and fire heads of municipal departments.
Must be at least 30 years of age, a U.S. citizen and a qualified voter of the City. Must have lived in the City for at least two years prior to the election. Candidates can have no outstanding debts to the City, nor ever been guilty of misappropriation of funds in office or been removed from a seat on the Council.
