Eligibility Requirements
Candidate must be a U.S. citizen for 10 years, must be a qualified Missouri voter for at least 3 years, must be a resident of the circuit for at least 1 year, must be licensed to practice law in Missouri, must be at least 30 years old. Retirement is mandatory at age 70.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee: $100. Additional requirement for independent candidates: Petitions for independent candidate nominations require the number of signatures of registered voters in the district to be equal to at least 2% of the total number of voters who cast their ballots at the last election for candidates for the office sought, or equal to 10,000 voters, whichever is less.
