About this position
The County Recorder, Register of Deeds, or Register of Mesne Conveyance is the officer responsible for keeping records of vital statistics, notarized deeds of trust, and other deeds affecting real property.
US citizen. At least 21 years old. Resident of the state and county for one (1) year prior to person's election. Not in arrears for Any taxes, lien, forfeiture, or defalcation in office, municipal user feed. Must never have been convicted, found guilty, or plead guilty to a felony or misdemeanor under the federal laws of the United States. Have no outstanding campaign disclosure reports due from any prior elections.
Filing Requirements
Show Identification; Complete the Form 5120 Candidate's Affidavit of Tax Payments for the Department of Revenue; Complete the Notice to Candidate Personal Financial Disclosure for the Missouri Ethics Commission; File a Declaration of Candidacy; and Submit a $50.00 filing fee (cash or check) payable to the County Central Committee for the State or Party in which they are filing. Independent candidates must further submit a petition with a number of signatures equal to at least 2% of the total number of voters who voted at the last election for candidates for the office being sought (or 10,000 whichever is less).
