The Lieutenant Governor is the second-highest ranking official of the state executive office. The Lieutenant Governor is the first successor to the Governor and the presiding officer of the State Senate, only voting to break a tie.
Candidate must be a qualified elector, 30 years old, a U.S. citizen for 20 years, and a resident of Mississippi for at least 5 years.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee is $500 for all candidates; Signature requirement is 1,000 qualified electors for independent candidates wishing to get on general election ballot without partisan primary.
