A candidate for county superintendent of schools must be a qualified elector, hold a valid, current class 1 professional certificate, class 2 standard certificate, or class 3 administrative and supervisory certificate issued by the superintendent of public instruction, and have at least 3 years of successful teaching experience.

- Filing Fee: 0.5% of the total annual salary. Petition Signature Requirement: Independent, Minor Party, and Indigent Candidates are required to submit 5% or more of the total votes cast for the successful candidate for the same office at the last general election. Major party candidates are not required to submit any signatures
