How to run for Mayor
- Step 1
Meet eligibility requirements
The mayor, who must reside within the city limits for a period of at least two (2) years preceding the election and during their entire term of office, shall be nominated and elected on a nonpartisan basis.

- Filing Fee: For offices having an annual salary of $2,500 or less and candidates for the legislature, $15; For county offices having an annual salary of more than $2,500, 0.5% of the total annual salary; For other offices having an annual salary of more than $2,500, 1% of the total annual salary; For offices in which compensation is paid in fees, $10; For officers of political parties, presidential electors, and officers who receive no salary or fees, no filing fee is required. If candidate is unable to pay filing fee; they must submit a petition containing signatures totalling 5% of the vote cast for the successful candidate for the same office at the last general election.
