How to run for Heights Water District Director
- Step 1
Meet eligibility requirements
To be eligible for election or appointment to a board of directors, a person must be registered to vote as required by law; 18 years of age or older; a citizen of the United States; and a resident of the district or an owner of real property in the district who is a resident of the state of Montana.

- Filing Fee: For offices having an annual salary of $2,500 or less and candidates for the legislature, $15; For county offices having an annual salary of more than $2,500, 0.5% of the total annual salary; For other offices having an annual salary of more than $2,500, 1% of the total annual salary; For offices in which compensation is paid in fees, $10; For officers of political parties, presidential electors, and officers who receive no salary or fees, no filing fee is required. If candidate is unable to pay filing fee; they must submit a petition containing signatures totalling 5% of the vote cast for the successful candidate for the same office at the last general election.
