Eligibility Requirements

Candidate must be a registered voter qualified to vote in an election for the office sought, at least 21 years of age as of the date of the general election, and not be serving an active felony sentence, including any period of probation or parole.

Filing Requirements

Filing fee is $5. If instead using signatures in lieu of the filing fee: For Major Party Candidates: 5% of the party's registered NC voters in the county or district, or 200 registred NC voters of any affiliation, whichever is greater. For Independent candidates: 5% of all registered NC voters within the county or district.
