Must be 18 years of age, a resident of the borough for at least 1 year and a U.S. Citizen

No filing free. Petition Signature requirements: For independent and minor party candidates: 2% of the entire vote cast for members of the General Assembly in the borough at the last preceding general election or 100 signatures, whichever is lower; for major party candidates: 5% of the total vote cast by the voters of that political party at the last preceding primary election held for the election of that party's candidates for the General Assembly or 25 signatures, whichever is lower.

Submit paperwork to the municipal clerk's office (for party candidates); submit paperwork to the county clerk's office (for independent candidates).
