About this position
Council considers and sets policies to govern the municipality in accordance with statutory authority. They are responsible for adopting the budget and enacting ordinances to regulate the affairs of the municipality.

Eligibility Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, a resident of the municipality for at least one year, a registered voter in the municipality, without any financial obligations to the municipality, and without past felony convictions
Filing Requirements
No Filing Fee. Petition signature requirement: 5% of the total votes cast in district by political party in the last primary election for general assembly (party candidates); 2% of the total votes cast in the district in the last general election for general assembly (independent candidates)
Paperwork Instructions
Submit paperwork to the municipal clerk's office (for party candidates); submit paperwork to the county clerk's office (for independent candidates).
