The Governor is the chief executive officer of a state and is responsible for implementing state laws and overseeing the operation of the state executive branch. The Governor oversees legislative proposals and vetoes, executive budgets, and implements executive orders.
Must be at least 30 years old, a U.S. citizen, a resident of the State for 5 years, a member of party affiliated with, never been convicted of a felony.
Filing Requirements
Filing fee is $0; signature requirement of a number of voters equal to at least 2% of the total vote of the candidate's party in the state or congressional district, or of 230 qualified voters (major party candidates), 1% of the total number of votes cast for governor at the last preceding general election at which a governor was elected (minor party candidates), or a number of voters equal to at least two percent of the total number of votes cast in the state (independent candidates).
